Simon is on holiday, so this episode of the podcast is taken over by Julia Worthington (twitter.com/JuliaJuliaw)
Julia Worthington of Amber Coaching for Fundraisers interviews Amy Hinks, Development Manager at The Booth Centre, Manchester about corporate fundraising in a charity with less than one million turnover.
Amy has been at The Booth Centre for 5 years and has transformed their income from 75% grant funding, 25% from donations to the exact opposite, now donations are 75% with corporate income making up a large proposition of that, PLUS the income has doubled.
Julia talks to Amy about how to meet businesses that you can and want to work with, without any cold calling; the importance of living by your charities values and mission to ensure the corporate partnership is a true partnership, with both sides benefitting. They talk about charging for volunteering opportunities and the long-term hidden costs of offering corporate volunteering. Amy’s clarity about why the charity would turn down a partnership is refreshing and inspiring.
